Workshops listed below were given in 2009, beginning at 10:00am and lasting about 1.5 hours.

 

April 4 - Seed Starting for the Vegetable Garden

Master Gardener Jim Wilson will teach you how to be successful starting your own vegetable seedlings.

 

May 16 - Compost Workshops at the Plant Sale

Taught by Master Composters

Morning class at 10:30 am

Afternoon class at 1:00 pm

Bins will be available for sale.

 

April 18 - Growing Vegetables and Preserving What You Grow

Master Gardener Karen Walters will provide information on beginning the vegetable bed to planting and fertilizing and then harvesting and preserving. Winter vegetables will be discussed.

 

May 23 - Growing Roses

Master Gardener/Rose Society President Paula Nelson will teach about varieties of roses that grow well in the Puget Sound area and you will learn about their culture

and care.

 

June 20 - Creating Sustainable Garden Beds

Master Gardener Karen Walters will be discussing soil, water and mulches to help you make the right choice for your garden to have healthy, low maintenance plants.

 

June 27 - Container Gardening

Master Gardeners Paula Nelson and Linda Bennett will teach about container types, soil, plant selection, watering, fertilizing and more.

 

July 11 - Lifelong Gardening

Use the correct movements and the right tools to avoid injury while gardening. Adaptive skills for lifelong will be taught by Master Gardener Shanna Winters and Physical Therapist Robert Schmidt.

 

July 11- Yard Waste Compost

Master Composters will teach you how to make rich compost for your garden which will save you money and reduce debris in the landfill.

 

July 18 - Gardening Within Your Ability

Master Gardener Shanna Winters and Physical Therapist, Robert Schmidt will teach gardening skills for those with any type of physical limitation or disability.

 

August 15 - Worm Composting

An Event for the Entire Family!

Learn how to compost food waste by letting the worms eat your garbage. Bring the kids for this fun, hands on workshop.

 

August 22 - Propagating Plants

Need more plants and want to save money? Master Gardener Connie Barclay will teach a variety of methods to increase your plant stock from the plants in your garden.

 

August 29 - Growing Grapes

Master Gardener Jim Wilson will teach you about plant selection for the South Sound, how to plant, cultural information, harvesting and pruning.

 

September 13 - Small Fruits

Gain knowledge on growing and caring for varieties of blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, gooseberries and currents.

 

September 5 - Growing Tree Fruits

Master Gardener Loren Stern will teach about the best tree fruit varieties, how to choose your tree, when and how to plant, culture and care and pruning basics.

 

October 17 - Fall and Winter Composting

Master Composters will teach about composting leaves and what to do with your worm bins, and those compost bins during the long, cold winter months.
